Jim do you remember

Santa to our nephews. Merry Christmas.

SchremppI don't remember that, but I can believe it. Gramps
used to take us our for a drive on Christmas eve while the folks got out
the presents. After 30 minutes he'd point to the sky and say, "Oh there
goes Santa. Did you see him?" "Where? Where?" Then back home to a pile of
loot.

Reminds me of when Bush visited Nampa, Idaho. The few
of us who were protesting were separated into groups of under 8 people
each and spaced far apart and forced to stand within a confined space to
"keep us under control." And, we were forbidden from speaking to anyone
other than ourselves, although Bush supporters were allowed to say
whatever they wanted to us. Tea-baggers have no clue what it's like to
have their freedoms taken away. From this video, it's apparent they have
no clue, period.

Speaking of paper, did you know that America and Canada are the only countries where toilet paper is not made from recycled paper? Apparently we have sensitive 'behinds' so we need soft tissue that can only be made with new paper.

I'd pay $12 a year for Facebook if... |
We all know FB is trying to make money. I enjoy
it and think it brings me some entertainment value. So I'm willing to pay
a buck a month. Not everyone has to pay; keep the free accounts for those
who don't want to pay. But for those of us who pay $12 a year we should
get something in return. I'd suggest that paying users get: 1) 0 ads on
the FB pages 2) Able to use all applications, but the apps cannot get
access to our personal information - we are assured privacy 3) When a
paying customer uses an app it will NOT pop up those annoying "share this
with / invite all your friends" screens 4) Why don't you suggest something
that you'd pay $12 a year for? By the way, I have no personal interest in
FB. I just think they do a good job and I'd pay if I got rid of some
annoying things they do to make money off me today. Jim

President Obama campaigned on promises to
improve the nation's health system. This summer, Congress will attempt to

Thanks for sharing the link, Jim! I've been
struggling with how to answer the critics of the health care reform. It
may not be the perfect plan but it gets us closer to a better system for
all.... the current system is too bloated, and I am personally impacted
for being diabetic -- can't get coverage except through companies that
hire me....

Exposing the PR Firms Behind the Fake "Grass Roots" Anti-Healthcare Movement |

The pro-reform efforts have to be just as vocal if
not more so through this month and into the fall because no matter how
bizarre or lame the anti arguments are, when they're repeated enough they
get traction. And right now they're being repeated a lot, and very loudly.
There's a reason bullies get their way...

OK, so powerfull people and organizations are
politically acitve, not what I would call a journalistic breakthrough.
ACORN, SEIU, George Soros, MoveOn.org, UAW, etc., have put signifianct money and resources benind their political initiatives. As have large corporations and religous groups. Nothing new.
However, Rachel Maddow has done a journalistic breakthrough by showing how in detail President Obama speaking style is decpetive, and how he can outright lie to the America people while trashing our Constitution. Her words not mine, so don't kill the messenger. Worth watching no matter what your political affliation, just to see the power of his speaking talents.

Mike, I agree - Rachael Maddow is an excellent watch.
I like her laying it out, whatever "it" may be. And Obama is a powerful
speaker - a good thing, I think. As to Unlimited Detention - I do not care
for it at all. It's a tough environment and what I hope comes out of it is
an open process with legal representation. I think it is dangerous for
sure.

It was 2004. We were in San Francisco for the

We stood around in the background to make sure we got on national TV. This

Hi, Cous. I just
joined this nutty site, in order to view Pete's latest pix. I notice you
have a books tab. How do you do that? My page seems not to want to display
my picture; I don't know what that's about.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing you next month. We'll be bringing LLSO'G with us.

Interesting numbers! Two things I'd be curious about
- average size of contributions for different candidates, and
contributions from officers vs. contributions from other ranks.
January 26, 2009 at
4:56 am
I wonder, did the actual vote reflect the same trend?
The total number of individuals contributers seems small. Is it possible
these numbers represent the die hards who contributed to their candidate?
Also, it looks like to me Obama got the small contributers (>$100) and
McCain got larger contributers (just over $200).
January 30, 2009 at
5:38 pm
was surprised to
find that active duty military donated 70% Obama over McCain. Who says
they aren't democrats?
